Welcome to my blog! My name is Courtney Stewart and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in the treatment of grief and loss. My private practice is dedicated to helping clients heal from their pain and instill hope for the future, and this blog will be an extension of the work I do. I welcome your feedback and comments on my posts and look forward to sharing my thoughts!
I was inspired to specialize in grief after the death of my mom in 2005 to Multiple Sclerosis, four days before I began graduate school. Although this was an extremely painful loss, I know that proceeding with graduate school was the right decision, and it helped me to work through my grief and better understand the person I had become after my mom's death. After graduating in 2009 I founded Healing with Time, LLC and began my journey helping others work through their grief. I am passionate about my work and am inspired each day by the courage I see in my clients, and their willingness to share their stories with me.
I have just completed my first book, "The Girl Without a Mom: My Journey Through Grief, Trying to Heal, and the People I met Along the Way." Sharing my story of grief and healing is an important part of my grief work, and I hope to help others as they work through their own loss. Life did not end for me after my mom died, and it does not have to end for you either. Grief is never easy, and unfortunately we all will be faced with a loss of some type in our lifetimes. However, I truly believe that with each loss we are given the potential for growth, learning, and ultimately, healing from the pain. Although the pain of loss will always be with us, as time goes on the pain will lessen, and coping with the pain will be easier.
